#1 New York Times Best Selling Book!
HEALING THE SHAME THAT BINDS YOU
JOHN BRADSHAW
This #1 New York Times Best Selling Book, HEALING THE SHAME THAT BINDS YOU, was written years ago with millions of copies sold and is still selling more than 13,000 copies every year, has been completely updated and expanded by the author John Bradshaw.
.
“I used to drink,” writes John Bradshaw, "to solve the problems caused by drinking. The more I drank to relieve my shame-based loneliness and hurt, the more I felt ashamed.”
Shame is the motivator behind our toxic behaviors: the compulsion, co-dependency, addiction, and drive to superachieve that breaks down the family and destroys personal lives. It limits the development of self esteem and causes anxiety and depression, and limits our ability to be connected in relationships. This book has helped millions identify their personal shame, understand the underlying reasons for it, address these root causes, and release themselves from the shame that binds them to their past failures.
John’s works are published in 42 languages. All over the world, corporations, institutions, treatment centers, therapists, and counselors use the theories and therapies presented in his workshops.
This New York Times #1 Best Seller, HEALING THE SHAME THAT BINDS YOU is John Bradshaw’s most enduring work. In it, he shows how unhealthy toxic shame is the core component of our compulsions including, codependency, lying, addiction, and the drive to super-achieve or underachieve. This toxic shame, most often experienced in childhood, results in the breakdown of our self-esteem, the destruction of the family system, an inability to move forward and form lasting intimate relationships in our lives.
This book HEALING THE SHAME THAT BONDS YOU is recommended for academic, professional, private, public, and personal libraries and those seeking the one great thing that is missing in their life--WHOLENESS.
People who bought this series HEALING THE SHAME THAT BINDS YOU, with John Bradshaw also bought the series, HEALING THE SHAME THAT BINDS YOU, BRADSHAW ON: THE FAMILY, A THEOLOGY OF ADDICTION, THE CORE OF SPIRITUALITY, and THE SHAME BASED FAMILY.

I am the over-achiever philanthropist, always running myself into shear exhaustion working to make more money in order to help others more and always feeling as if I am falling short of helping enough or feeling as if whatever I do it's simply not enough help. At the end of the day, instead of looking at all the things I "have" accomplished and done, I think of all the things I haven't yet accomplished, all the people I missed doing things for, all the ways I somehow fell short. It is an awful capsule of feeling and a habitual addiction. It wasn't until a very good friend of mine suggested reading "Healing the Shame That Binds You" that I was able to see a very large part of how I became this way! THANK you, John, for bringing me the realization that the way I was conditioned with "guilt" tactics in my upbringing was at the heart of creating the balled up knot of feelings of unworthiness that obsessively drives me so mercilessly hard to this day. My parents were not physically abusive and I know they loved me very much as I do them, but I see now how embarrassing teasing as well as methods of "shame on you" discipline unwittingly guilt-tripped me into the hopelessly driven cycle of perpetual unworthiness I reflexively feel. I know that they would "undo" that if they could, so great is their love for me. Nevertheless, it "is" how I came to be this way and all I have to say is that John's book was VERY liberating. Mind you, I am still driven and still find myself doing the feelings of falling short and unworthiness thinking... but now that I see it for the conditioned, habitual, addictive way of thinking that it is (thanks to John;s book) I find myself STOPPING when I feel I can hardly breath, taking deep breaths and reciting John's step by step self-talk exercises. What a Godsend. I recommend this book to anyone and everyone who perpetually paces within the cage of never feeling like they've done enough!

Healing the Shame that binds you is the best ever written on this subject. This is required study material for my employee starter pack. It helps with team building and personal healing. It also helps with customer service and relations. My business is about healing and if the employees are not willing to be on the healing paths themselves then they cannot help my customers. This is excellent material for any one who wishes to be on the path of healing. Thanks John for all your hard work and dedication on this subject.
